It all started when…
The Foundation Fund was established to:
· Provide support for programs and projects in accordance with Biblical principles and guidelines.
· Provide support for programs and projects which will extend the mission and expand the ministries of the church.
· Provide a flow of funds for new and above-budget projects.
· Provide counsel to members considering sizable gifts and estate bequests to the congregation.
· Receive sizable gifts and estate bequests to the congregation.
· Receive gifts to provide long-term support.
· Assure qualified, impartial administration of funds.
· Assure use of funds in a way consistent with the mission and ministry of the church.
· Earn a reasonable return on invested funds.
Policies and Guidelines
Receipt of Funds The Foundation Fund will receive gifts and estates given to Deep Run Mennonite Church East which are in excess of $1,000 unless otherwise specified. Investment Policy Fund assets shall be invested in a manner that will permit investment goals and avoid investments in securities where the purpose would be contrary to Biblical principles. Investment of Fund assets shall be in marketable equity and debt instruments traded on recognized national exchanges. Mennonite Foundation is the current investment manager. All income earned by the Fund will be added to principal.
Distributions
The amount available for distribution annually is 10% of the entire Fund balance as of the prior fiscal year ending September 30. Applications to receive monies from the Fund will be accepted from members and organizations of Deep Run Mennonite Church East between September 30 and November 30 each year. An application form is available from the church office or committee members. The decision on the disbursement of monies to the applicants will be made by December 31 of each year. The actual grants can be distributed anytime after December 31, but must be distributed before September 30 of the next year or they will be forfeited.
Sharing Our Gifts and Resources
Giving to the Foundation Fund is an opportunity for gifts to provide long-term support for needs here among us and abroad, something to consider in estate planning and other financial decisions. Applications to request monies from the Fund are available at the church office or from committee members between September 30 and November 30 each fiscal year.
