DIRECTOR OF PASTORAL CARE

Leadership Board is happy to share that in working with Pastor Jeff, Pastor Brent, and the Finance Committee, we have created a new staff position titled Director of Pastoral Care. This position has been offered to Sharon Bishop and she has graciously accepted.  Sharon has such a great heart and dedication to pastoral care.  She is always willing to be with people when they are struggling or having health issues, staying connected with people who can't be in church on a regular basis, and many other ways that she interacts with members of our congregation. 

Many of you have probably experienced this during your interactions with Sharon at one time or another.  Sharon has been volunteering in this role for the last 20+ years but we felt it was important to make this a staff position now for a couple of reasons.  Our Lead Pastor had expressed, before he left, that he would not have been able to do the pastoral care portion of his job if it had not been for Sharon being available to assist and organize visits.  Pastor Brent has echoed these thoughts.  Pastor Jeff, in the short time he has been with us, has also expressed how much work Sharon does for Pastoral Care and is of a huge assistance to him.  We do have a more elderly congregation, so we do not see the need for Pastoral Care becoming any less.  In addition, we are hopeful that having Sharon in this position can be of assistance to the Pastoral Search Committee, letting lead pastor candidates know that while pastoral care is certainly still part of the lead pastor position there is someone on staff to assist with it.  

 The Director of Pastoral Care position is a part time (average 20 hours/week) paid position.  Sharon will begin her this role as of June 1, 2023.
