Each year Deep Run East hosts a Men’s Banquet for men and boys of all ages. The speaker at the 2012 Men’s Banquet was Erik Kratz, a catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. Erik grew up in Telford, PA, and went to Christopher Dock High School and Eastern Mennonite University. Erik shared about the joys of fulfilling his childhood dream of playing for the Phillies. He also shared honestly about the difficult journey in getting to the major leagues. Erik’s story is a testimony of hard work, determination, perseverance, seeking God’s direction, and trusting in Christ in the midst of life’s adversities. Erik reminded the audience that faith in Christ is the one thing that cannot be taken from us.

The 20112 guest speaker was Christian comedian, Gordon Douglas. A group of 175 men, young men and boys, enjoyed the all-you-can-eat buffet catered by Wegman's Catering, fellowship, and laughter at Gordon’s mix of real life stories, and “off the wall” physical comedy. His hilarious view of life brought to light the funny things all around us and reminded us that we can find joy no matter what we are going through.
